all beings have buddha nature
Shunryu Suzuki Transcript
Tokiwa Kindergarten, Yaizu, Japan 1950
One day when he was eleven, Shunryu Suzuki's son Hoitsu went to a ceremony at his school and heard his father speak. This is what he recalled forty-four years later.
---------------------------
All beings have buddha nature and all life is precious. We are nurturing Buddha's children and we should do so with Buddha's compassionate mind. We shouldn't see some as sharp and others as dull. By treating all children without discrimination, we enable them to see all beings as equal. We should perceive things with our fundamental eye, not only with the consciousness that makes the distinctions of daily life. That is the eye of wisdom—to appreciate things and people "as they are" and live our lives fully in the universe that is "as it is." _______________ Source: This transcript is from Crooked Cucumber: Chapter Seven.
